My Moment to shine... London Torch Says
It all started when the Youth Workers in the Info Shop in Wrexham nominated for this chance of the life-time. When they asked me if they can, I said 'It will be an honour'. After that I have to wait until December 2011 before I knew I was picked, I've heard that tens of thousands of people were nominated and I thought 'Is my story any good to take part in something as big as this... the answer was yes I was. When I had that email in December I was just over the moon and couldn't believe that I will be doing this. They told me to keep it quiet until March... I only told my family and my close friends. This was because they had to do security checks on everybody before they go public last Monday (19th March).
On Friday I had another email to say that I am an official torchbearer for the 2012 Olympics running in Wrexham on Wednesday 30th May. I was... no words can describe how I was feeling... but again I couldn't tell the world until Monday. When Monday came I told all my Facebook friends and everybody who I knew. The response I had that Monday and a few days after was amazing!! Everybody was saying well done and congratulations. That made me realise more how big this was, everybody is talking about it and saying they will be there on the day to watch me, making me people proud, I’m one of the persons who representing people from Wrexham.
A year ago from now I knew about the Olympics 2012 in Britain but I didn’t know that I would have this wonderful opportunity, and I am very so grateful the Youth workers in the info shop, Lowri, Lisa and Kath, who have faith and believed in me to take part in this amazing event. Just want to say a massive big thank you to them and all my family and friends who already shown their support over the last week. How proud I am to be from Wrexham!!!
