June

June – Everyman Male Cancer Awareness Month
Everyman was set up by the Institute of Cancer Research to raise awareness and funds for prostate and testicular cancer.

20 June – Father’s Day

21–27 June – Deafblind Awareness Week
An opportunity to raise public awareness about issues facing people who live with deafblindness.

21–27 June – Child Safety Week
It aims to raise awareness of the number of accidents that tragically lead to serious injury or death of children and young people and how to prevent them.

25 June – Wrong Trousers Day
Is all about paying £1.00 for the right to look wrong and wearing wrong trousers.

26 June – Armed Forces Day
An opportunity for the nation to show our support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community.

July

4–11 July – National Transplant Week
To increase public awareness of the positive benefits of Organ & Tissue Donation for transplantation.

6–13 July – Children’s Art Day
Is an opportunity for children to sample and enjoy the wide range of visual arts.

11 July – Disability Awareness Day

12–19 July – National Childcare Week

24–31 July – Love Parks Week

August

4 August – Play Day
Playday is the annual celebration of children's right to play. Keep an eye out for what happening in your area.

12 August – International Youth Day
An opportunity for governments to draw attention to world wide youth issues.

13 August – International Left Handers Day
Raise awareness of left handedness and the challenges faced living in a right handed world.

September

13–19 September – Sexual Health Week
FPA’s Sexual Health Week aims to raise awareness of sexual health issues and it focuses on a different issue each year.

19 September – International Talk Like a Pirate Day
So ahoy there, scallywags and sea wenches go and have some swash buckling fun.

19–25 September – Rural Health Week
Rural Health Week is an annual event run for the Institute of Rural Health. Each year we choose a cross-cutting a 'theme' for the week in order to engage as widely as possible, and this year's theme is: health, climate change, and sustainability – developing positive rural responses.

21 September – International Day of Peace
International day of peace in on the 21st September every year and calls for a full day of peace and ceasefire throughout the world.

October

1–31 October – Breast Cancer Awareness Month
Whatever your age, size or shape it’s important to take care of your breasts. Breast cancer is the most common cancer in the UK, so it’s important to look after your breasts by being breast aware.

Being breast aware is an important part of caring for your body. It means getting to know how your breasts look and feel, so you know what is normal for you. You can then feel more confident about noticing any unusual changes.

1–31 October International Walk to School Month
International Walk to School Month takes place across the world in October each year. Here in the UK, we take part by running our own Walk to School Month.

1 October – World Smile Day

9 October – National Poetry Day
Britain is a poetry nation. This year National Poetry Day falls on Thursday October 8th, and our theme is Heroes and Heroines. Poetry celebrates heroes of all sorts from sporting heroes to mums and dads. So keep an eye out to see what’s happening in your area.

10 October – Work Mental Health Day
To raise awareness of mental heath issues.

17 October – Child Poverty Day
Put the fun back into lunch time and tuck into a classic school dinner or a packed lunch and donate what you would have spent at lunchtime to Action Aid.

29 October – Wear Something Pink Day
Wear it pink a fun and easy way to donate to Campaign and help fund breast cancer research.

30 October – Make a Difference Day
Make a Difference Day is the UK’s largest single day of volunteering. Every year tens of thousands of people get together across the UK to make a difference in their communities.

31 October – British Summer Time ends
Clocks go back one hour.

31 October – Halloween
On October 31st, we celebrate Halloween, thought to be the one night of the year when ghosts, witches and fairies are especially active.

November

3 November – National Stress Awareness Day

5 November – Bonfire Night
In November 1605, the infamous Gunpowder Plot  in which some Catholics plotted to blow up the English Parliament and King James l, on the day set for the king to open Parliament. The men were angry because the king had treated them badly and they didn't like it.

The story is remembered each 5th November when 'Guys' are burned in a celebration known as "Bonfire Night".

11 & 14 November – Armistice Day / Remembrance Day
November is the time of the year when we wear a red poppy in memory of those who sacrificed their lives for us during wars.

15–19 November – Anti Bullying Week

20 November – Children in Need Week

21–27 November – National Curry Week
Celebrating 200 years of Indian Restaurants in the UK.

23 November – Road Safety Week
The theme for Road Safety Week 2010 is: Kids say SLOW DOWN.

Every day in Britain 10 children and young people are killed or seriously injured while on foot and bicycles (6 young people aged 12-19 and 4 children aged 0-11). It’s a disgrace.

Meanwhile, in Road Safety Week, kids will be calling on all drivers to remember that ‘20’s Plenty’ and slow down, even if the limit’s 30. You could save a life. So get involved and raise awareness in your area.

25 November – White Ribbon Campaign UK
White Ribbon is a campaign led by men who want to condemn violence against women and take action to tackle it.

30 November – St Andrew’s Day
Scots all around the world celebrate their national day.

December

1–31 December – Wallace and Gromit’s Great British Tea Party
It is easy to take part and celebrate the Great British Tea Party. Simply get friends, family  At home, at school, your local youth club – anywhere you like, and ask them to make a donation to join your tea party and show their support for your local children’s hospital and hospice.

1–31 December – Childhood Cancer Awareness Month

1 December – World Aids Day
World AIDS Day is a day when people from around the world come together within a single effort to raise awareness about HIV and to express global solidarity with people living with HIV.

3 December – International Day of Persons with Disabilities
The aim of this day is to raise awareness and understanding of disability issues and to promote independence, inclusion and choice of disabled people.

4 December – Carers Right Day
Each year, Carers UK works with over a thousand local groups to run national Carers Rights Day. Events are run across the country to increase knowledge of benefits, make sure carers know their rights, guide carers towards practical support and raise awareness of the needs of carers.
