Youth Forum
What is the youth forum about?
The youth forum allows young people from all across Wrexham to make and influence decisions that affect them. All too often projects and organisations make decisions on behalf of the young people they are involved with, however the youth forum encourages these projects to consult with young people, using fun and interactive activities.
All young people have the right to have their opinion heard and listened to, this is spelled out in article 13 of the United Nation Convention on the Rights of the Child.
This is a really important document that spells out in detail young people's rights and the responsibilities that go along side them.
What Next?
The only piece of work the youth forum is involved with at the moment is the establishment of the County Youth Parliament. This is a massive development in terms of young people's participation. The parliament will hopefully be made up of young people from right across the whole of Wrexham, representing projects both from the statutory and voluntary sectors, including young people that don't attend any other group but are keen to get their voices heard. In fact all young people will have the opportunity to stand for a place within the Youth Parliament!
