The Big P
Find new participation opportunities for you to have a say in the issues and decisions which affect young people in Wrexham
Wrexham County Youth Forum is a group of young people aged 11–25 who meet together to discuss issues that effect young people. The youth forum encourages awareness of the UNCRC (United Nations convention on the rights of the child).
Over the years, Wrexham Youth forum have successfully completed a wide variety of work, including consultations for the council, interviewing, and raising issues within Wrexham. As a group, they have come up with an idea of a ‘Young Peoples Assembly’ as a forum to get young people’s views and opinions heard.

This is a big development in participation in Wrexham and after working hard on this project in partnership with AVOW (Association of Voluntary Organisations), it is finally all coming together.
Known as the Senedd Yr Ifanc, the forum will be part of “The Big P” participation model for Wrexham and you can get involved in lots of ways.

We want this group to number approximately 51 young people who will represent young people from all areas and groups in Wrexham, get their voices heard and become involved in their community. This will make sure that Wrexham meets Article 12 of the UNCRC (United Nations Convention on the Rights of The Child).
The topics of the meetings will be decided by young people and can be about absolutely anything that affects young people in Wrexham some of which might include transport, schools or the environment.

- Your new youth service area youth forums coming to your area soon
- Your school by being on your school council
- Your communities first youth forum

What we need from you
Please support the youth forum in raising awareness of the Big participation featuring the Senedd Yr Ifanc within your areas and projects.
The Big P is underpinned by Article 12 of the UNCRC which states that “Every child has the right to say what they think in all matters affecting them, and to have their views taken seriously.” And that the project is founded on the premise that the most effective participation necessitates shared decision making between young people and adults.
Therefore, could we please request that Link Up members consider how the Senedd could become involved in decision making processes and consultation.
For more information please contact participation@wrexham.gov.uk or telephone Jen Tredinnick on 01978 722 072 or Nia Lloyd at AVOW on 01978 318810.
